As an environmental scientist with a penchant for sustainable travel, my recent stay at Three Rivers Lodge left me with mixed feelings regarding luxury versus value. the proximity to Lake Tekapo was undeniably convenient, offering a serene backdrop for stargazing on the well-maintained grass field adjacent to the rooms. the inclusion of air conditioning was a welcome relief during the intense New Zealand sun but required some time to cool the room due to the large windows. the room itself was comfortable and clean, with basic amenities such as a microwave, kettle, and toaster adding a touch of convenience. While the accommodations were spacious and provided a pleasant view of the lake, I found the absence of free Wi-Fi and the slightly cramped parking to be notable drawbacks. the friendly host, Andy, did go above and beyond, even surprising us with a thoughtful gesture to celebrate our anniversary. In considering the cost relative to the offerings, Three Rivers Lodge strikes a decent balance between value and luxury, making it a suitable choice for those seeking a modest yet comfortable stay in this picturesque location.
